One CI/CD platform for every repo you own

A versioned library of reusable GitHub Actions workflows that every product repo calls. New repos are onboarded in minutes, rules are enforced automatically, and releases version themselves. For teams with 10 or more repos.

  • Branch protection is set by hand, repo by repo, and no two repos match.
  • Organisation rulesets protect every branch and tag the same way.
  • Every repo has its own copy of the pipeline, and no two copies match any more.
  • Every repo calls one versioned workflow engine.
  • A fix to the build has to be made 30 times, by hand.
  • A fix ships once, and repos pick it up on the next run.
  • Pull requests merge without a ticket, a version bump or the right reviewers.
  • Jira keys, version bumps and CODEOWNERS are checked on every PR.
  • Releases depend on one person remembering the steps.
  • Releases tag, version and write their own changelog.
  • A full build means triggering repos one by one, in the right order.
  • One YAML plan builds every component in dependency order.

What you get

A central workflow engine

One repo of reusable workflows, versioned (v1, v2) so teams upgrade when they’re ready. It covers pull request checks, pre-build, build, post-build, security scans and release.

reusable-workflowssemver

Onboarding templates

New repos get a small set of files (a build file, a version file, CODEOWNERS, auto-merge) and nothing else. The engine does the rest.

PR and engineering governance, enforced automatically

Jira key in the PR title and branch name, Jira status checked against issue type, branch-name rules, required version bump, CODEOWNERS validation, drift detection, repo-rule validation, branch lock and unlock across all repos, and auto-merge.

GitHub rulesets and repo governance

Organisation-level rulesets for branch and tag protection: required status checks, required reviews and CODEOWNERS, signed commits, linear history and push rules. Repo settings kept as code, so every new repo is consistent from day one and drift is reported.

Automated versioning and releases

Semantic version tags from a version file, release-please changelogs, a monitor for releases waiting to go out, and Jira build tags updated automatically.

Multi-repo build chain

Dependency-ordered builds across components, in stages, driven by one YAML plan, with a build summary report at the end.

Jenkins to GitHub Actions migration

Jobs are mapped, rebuilt as reusable workflows, run side by side with Jenkins until the results match, and then Jenkins is switched off. Moving from Bitbucket or GitLab too? See migration to GitHub.

Engineering reports and automation

The platform can also report on itself. Pick what you need.

  • Weekly repo reports by emailCommits, pull requests, lines of code and open-PR age per repo.
  • Build metrics in GrafanaBuild counts, durations and failure rates (DORA-style) in InfluxDB and Grafana dashboards.
  • Uptime checksYour key URLs checked every few minutes, with alerts to email or Teams.
  • Rollout trackingSee which repos have picked up a required change and which haven’t.
  • Bulk repo changesOne change across dozens of repos, with one ticket, branch and PR per repo, and a --dry-run first.
  • Nightly backupsEvery repo in your organisation backed up, with old copies pruned.
  • Access auditsTeam membership and duplicate-repo checks.
  • Ask for something elseIf it has an API, it can usually be reported on. Tell me what you need.

How it runs, in about 4 weeks

Depending on how many repos you have. You get a fixed plan after the call.

  1. Week 1

    Audit and design

Review your repos, pipelines and branching. Agree the stages and rules.

  2. Week 2

    Engine and templates

Build the reusable workflows and onboarding templates. Pilot on two repos.

  3. Week 3

    Governance and releases

Jira checks, branch rules, versioning, release-please and the build chain.

  4. Week 4

    Rollout and handover

Onboard the rest in batches, runbook, recorded walkthrough, 30 days of support.

GitHub Actions platform questions

How many repos do we need for this to be worth it?
Around 10. Below that, the Pipeline starter or Startup launch kit is a better fit.
Can you migrate us from Jenkins?
Yes. Jobs are rebuilt as workflows and run side by side until the results match, then Jenkins is switched off.
Will this lock us into your code?
No. Everything is built fresh in your GitHub organisation, in plain YAML and Python, and documented. You own it from day one.
We don’t use Jira.
The governance checks work with any tracker that has an API, or with simple PR-title rules if you don’t use one.
Do you set up GitHub rulesets and branch protection?
Yes. Rulesets are set at organisation level where your plan allows it, with required checks, reviews, CODEOWNERS and signed commits, and repo settings are kept as code so new repos match.
Can it build C/C++ and Helm, not just web apps?
Yes. The engine doesn’t care about the language. Heavy C/C++ builds usually run best on self-hosted runners.
