Jira and Confluence, set up the way your team works

Projects, workflows and automation in Jira, runbooks and release notes in Confluence, and your pipelines linked to both, so tickets, builds and releases tell the same story.

Sound familiar?

The red lines are where most teams start. The green lines are where you end up.

team/how-we-track-work.md+5 −5
  • Boards and workflows don’t match how work actually flows.
  • Issue types, workflows and boards designed around how you work.
  • Developers update tickets by hand, or not at all.
  • Commits, pull requests, builds and deploys move tickets automatically.
  • Nobody knows which tickets shipped in which release.
  • Fix versions and build links are set by the pipeline.
  • Runbooks live in someone’s head or an old document.
  • Confluence spaces with templates for runbooks, releases and incidents.
  • Permissions grew over the years and nobody trusts them.
  • Clean groups, roles and permission schemes, documented.

What you get

Jira projects and workflows

Projects, issue types, workflows, screens, fields and Scrum or Kanban boards, designed with your team so the tool fits the process, not the other way round.

jiraworkflowsboards

Pipelines linked to Jira

GitHub, Bitbucket, GitHub Actions or Jenkins connected to Jira: issue keys checked on every pull request, tickets moved by commits and merges, builds and deployments shown on the issue, fix versions set at release.

Jira automation

Automation rules for transitions, assignments, due dates and notifications to email, Teams or Slack, plus Python scripts on the Jira API for anything rules can’t do. Dashboards for cycle time and releases.

Confluence spaces and templates

A space structure people can find things in, and templates for runbooks, release notes, incident reviews and onboarding. Release notes can be published from the pipeline.

Administration and permissions

Users, groups, roles and permission schemes cleaned up and documented, on Atlassian Cloud or Data Center.

Migrations and clean-up

Moving in from spreadsheets, Trello or another tracker, merging old projects, and planning a move to Atlassian Cloud, with a test import before anything goes live.

Jira and Confluence questions

Cloud or Data Center?
Both. Most new teams are best on Atlassian Cloud; if you already run Data Center, we’ll work with it.
Can you link Jira to GitHub Actions or Jenkins?
Yes. Pull requests, builds and deployments show up on the Jira issue, and the pipeline can check issue keys and set fix versions.
We already have Jira, but it’s a mess. Can you fix it?
Yes. Many projects start as a clean-up: fewer workflows, clearer boards, permissions you can trust.
Will we lose history if we migrate?
No. A migration is planned and tested with a trial import first, and you check the result before the switch.
Do you set up Jira Service Management?
Basic service desk setup, yes. Larger IT service management projects are quoted after the call.
